Reclaim..

Well they call it the ECR... the East Coast Road... some people in Madras talk a lot about this ECR... and why not? This 3 lane two way highway looks like one of the best in the country... look around you and you will see green.. and blue and more green and more blue... such a pleasure !!!!
When do i get to hit this highway you must be thinking ? Cut to the parking outside the shore temple in mahabalipuram... It was smaller temple. It stood beautifully next to the sea and also had managed to survive the Tsunami in 2004... however the walls were big time corroded.. nevertheless it was beautiful... and CROWDED.... the good and the bad have been mixed up pretty nicely in this trip.A walk around the temple... a few fotos... some of them without humans too... good work done.. and then off to the other side of the road to check out some rock carviings and a light house.. one of the better parts of that trip.. walk around the rocks... climbing up and down.. and then managing to catch a few good shots in the cam... makes all the effort worth it.. and the phone camera also came out good to click a few snaps too....the sea was so different here... this was more aggressive... white waves.. green sea... rocks... air.. purrfect...

A tribute to the eternal drink...

Tea Talk

There are really only three kinds of tea

1. Robust Black Teas, made from leaves that have been allowed to ferment

2. Delicate green teas, which are steamed instead of fermented; and

3. In-between oolong teas, which are only partially fermented!

Tuotes (T-Quotes)

Tea is drunk to forget the din of the world

- T'ein Yiheng,
eighteenth-century Chinese Sage

"If you are cold, tea will warm you. If you are too heated, it will cool you. If you are depressed, it will cheer you. If you are excited, it will calm you."
~Gladstone, 1865

Cha

The english word tea traces its roots to the name for tea in the Chinese Amoy Dialect: Te (pronounced tay). Cha is the Mandarin Chinese word for tea. Some countries use both. It's not unusual to hear someone in England request a "hot cup of cha".

Lighthouse at Mahabalipuram

Pic taken on 5th June, 2010 at Mahabalipuram. After reaching the top of a small hillock, we noticed a wall made of rocks and a small opening between it. The pic is taken through that opening, which came out as natural frame for the pic.

Snickers Galore

What could be a better subject than chocolates for a experimental shot. Macro Shot of Snickers......Gems look alike from the land of Yankees. I hope no one gets a craving for chocolates after looking at it.

Moon Shots

Moon shots that i have taken over the past few weeks.

Reflection

I loved the cloud formation in the sky and when i saw its reflection in the glass wall of my building, i couldn't stop myself from taking the pic.

Summer, Winter & Spring

The roof of Spencer Plaza (mall in Madras). Added few filters using Picasa and Photoshop to come out with these 3 different pics. The title of each say it all, whether u compare them with seasons, life or your routine days..........................

Busted ???

Well its the safety chain at one of the doors at Fort St George. Just applied Old Photography filter on the pic.

Canon @ Fort St. George

Fort St. George, a creation of the British in the year 1640 marks the beginning of developing Madras (Chennai) as a modern city. I had to take this pic in quite a hurry because of the guards. Hence, i was not able to change the settings, thats why you can see that picture is little overexposed. Though i liked the composition, thats why am posting it here.

Symmetry in Blue

Fort St. George, Madras. This is the Archaeological Society of India's Madras office, which is situated inside the Fort in an Old Building. I like the British Architecture and the open window panes at the evening time out here. I have decided to post this pic in color but when i applied the Old Photography filter on it, it was coming out well, gels well with the age of the building. Your comments please..........

Sun's Play - II

Victory Memorial at Madras. Continuing with the same series - Sun's Play.

Sun's Play

Pics taken at St. Mary's Church in Fort St. George - Madras. St. Mary's Church was built in 1678-80, was the first English Church in Madras, and is the oldest surviving British Church in India. There are reminders in the Church of Clive, who was married here in 1753, and of Elihu Yale, the early Governor of Madras who later found the famous American University bearing his name. (Now that was surprise to me also !!)

Light : Natural & Artificial........

The biggest mall in Chennai : Chennai Citi Centre. The retail revolution - mall mania, that has been sweeping across India has sweeped Chennai. This mall is a mixture of French and contemporary architecture as you can see from the roof in the first pic and lamp post in second.

Skeleton

A barren tree just at the end of winter season in the evening twilight..............old age for humans ?  Shot at Ranakpur (Rajasthan) in January 2010.

Symetrical Arches

One of the administrative buildings of Tamil Nadu Govt. near Fort St. George in Madras. I liked the way it has been designed. Capturing it in normal angle would have not given a good pic. So took this pic at an acute angle from side by sitting down. Applied Sepia filter and toned down the color a little. Hope you people like it.
Any other angle that could have worked ?

Selective Coloring

The way you look at life - take your pick.

Upon us all a little rain must fall - 'Led Zeppelin'

Sometimes I really wonder, how we are able to capture something really beautiful out of nowhere. While travelling back from Madras to Pondy accomplishing an official visit, it started raining heavily. I took this shot as macro of rain drops falling on the front windscreen of the car traveling at 30-40 Kmph. No filter, no post processing on it. Sometimes you don't have to make the picture, it just happens :)

The Flower Dance

Two macro shots of Flowers that i clicked. Selective coloring on first using Photoshop and second one is posted here without any post processing.
